‘Chronic’ means a condition that is long term

Many people can have CKD and don’t know about it, no truth, it might be hereditary or it might just spring on you. I know my experience was sudden and it just came upon me. If a Kidney is found to be abnormal, you will have to go through a series of tests mainly a urine test a biopsy, keyhole surgery to confirm. You will have 3 different tests before official diagnosis and confirmation of what caused the disease, what were your symptoms, how are you feeling and what stage of kidney failure you are at. As a long-term chronic illness (CKD), it doesn’t always mean it’s serious. You can comfortably live with it, by having regular checks up’s. with your GP or Kidney Consultant.

If you feel you may have symptoms of CKD you can get tested according to Nice guidelines. You may also be offered testing for CKD if you have:

  • Diabetes

  • High blood pressure

  • Heart disease

  • Problems with the structure of your kidneys or urinary tract (eg kidney stones, prostate problems in men)

  • Other diseases that affect the kidneys (eg systemic lupus erythematosus)

  • Blood or protein in your urine.

What’s good to know is that you can slow down the progression of this disease and protect your Kidneys.

  • Controlling high blood pressure

  • Maintaining a healthy weight

  • Eating a healthy diet

  • Limiting alcohol

  • Taking regular exercise

  • Giving up smoking

  • Avoiding medicines that may harm your kidneys

  • Look after your Kidneys

When these types of health issues arise it can make you feel very isolated and disowned without you knowing it. So I will always recommend you take a break, so you unwind, relieve the stress, give yourself time to rejuvenate, and evaluate your lifestyle. Where do you love to go? Let’s go to Suffolk this week. Suffolk is a non metropolitan county in the UK. A county filled with natural beauty situated on the east coast of England, bordered by 50 miles of glorious coastline and topped with breathtakingly beautiful open skies, it’s the perfect holiday and short break destination.
